Thames Valley Police shared the news this morning (13/08).
The man in his 60s was hospitalised on Sunday (09/8) after the suspected gas explosion at Cobb Hall Road, but has since died.
Lead Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Philip Turner-Robson said: “This is a tragic development and our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
“Thames Valley Police is managing a coronial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion and collapse of the property, working jointly with the Health and Safety Executive.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing as we seek to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, but in an update on Monday (10/8) the police said officers remained at the scene and were continuing to support the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), who is leading the investigation into the cause.
In the aftermath of the incident, Newton Longville residents have been coming together to support those affected, with two GoFundMe appeals set up to raise funds for them.
Villager Hope Batchelor launched “Newton Longville: Supporting The Crooked Billet & Steve”, which has already raised over £6,300 and is now on the way to £8,000.
A second fundraiser “Supporting the victims of Cobb Hall Road”, launched by Newton Longville resident Thomas Humphries, to help others affected by the explosion, has raised almost £1,000. In an update after this morning's news, Thomas said the fundraiser will remain active but the share will be given to the man's family instead.
