Two fundraising appeals have been launched to support those affected by the explosion which seriously damaged a home in Newton Longville on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to Cobb Hall Road at around 9.44am on Sunday following reports of an explosion at a home. Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service initially described the incident as a suspected gas explosion within a domestic property.
Four fire engines, a command unit, an operational support unit and two officers were sent to the scene, alongside police and ambulance crews.
One man was injured and passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service. Thames Valley Police later confirmed that he required hospital treatment and remains in hospital.
Cordons were put in place and nearby residents were evacuated while emergency services worked to make the area safe.
The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed.
In the aftermath of the incident, Newton Longville residents have rallied around those affected, with two GoFundMe appeals now raising money to provide support.
Fellow villager Hope Batchelor launched “Newton Longville: Supporting The Crooked Billet & Steve” to support Steve, who was seriously injured in the explosion, and The Crooked Billet pub.
The pub opened its doors to evacuated residents following the incident and supported emergency services throughout the day.
The appeal has already smashed the target of £4,500, and now is on the way to £8,000.

A second appeal, “Supporting the victims of Cobb Hall Road”, has been launched by Newton Longville resident Thomas Humphries to help others affected by the explosion.
Organisers say 85% of money raised will go to the homeowner, with the remaining 15% shared among residents who suffered damage to their property, belongings or wellbeing as a result of the incident.
