Public consultation launched on new 300 home Wendover development

A formal planning application is yet to be submitted.

The proposal by Hawridge Land, part of the W.E. Black Group of companies, would see an estate built on two fields between the Pursell Path and Halton Lane. 

The developers claim 'Wendover Springs' would bring: 300 homes (including 50% affordable housing), a landscape-led design retaining and enhancing existing green infrastructure, new public open spaces and connections to existing footpaths and routes, a design approach that reflects the character and setting of Wendover and a development that supports local services, facilities, and the wider community. 

They also say the proposals 'present an opportunity' to address housing needs, citing significant shortages of 'deliverable housing land' and affordable housing in the county. Hawridge also say the plans would 'support nearby services and facilities, deliver new areas of public open space, and create a landscape-led development that responds positively to its surroundings'.

Wendover Springs is already likely to be opposed by Wendover Parish Council should or when it goes further, who have said they currently do not believe the site to be an 'appropriate location for building' and that they would 'strongly object to this development'. They have also expressed concerns with its proximity to 'sensitive wildlife points' as it runs alongside the Grand Union canal. 

They are however hoping to meet with developers along with Halton Parish Council to 'understand' the development more and outline their views.

"We are keen to ensure the proposals come forward in a way which best reflects local feedback and priorities. With that in mind, we are running an extended consultation period across the summer to ensure everyone has an opportunity to have their say.'

Though in proposals are in their early stages, Hawridge has outlined an indicative timeline for the project, which would see the anticipated determination of the outline planning application in mid 2027 with the earliest construction start time in 2028. 

Wendover residents have until Friday August 28th to share their feedback on the proposals, with feedback used ahead of the outline application which would be submitted to Bucks Council in early Autumn this year. You can find out more at the dedicated Wendover Springs website here (external).
