Transport for Buckinghamshire’s road safety initiative, Travel Safe Bucks, has launched a new seatbelt campaign, urging people to #DoTheSmartThing and wear their seatbelt.
The campaign wants to remind people that there is no excuse not to wear a seatbelt.
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been driving, how far your journey is, or how familiar you are with your route, you always need to wear a seatbelt. Don’t take the risk.
The message isn’t just aimed at drivers, passengers should also always make sure that they wear a seatbelt.
They could find themselves facing an on the spot fine of £100, which can rise to £500 If prosecuted.
They have also said you’re twice as likely to die in a crash if you aren’t wearing your seatbelt.
