The Your Bucks, Your Say consultation invites us to share our views on budget priorities.
Bucks Council is now planning the budget for 2027/28 and wants residents, businesses and local organisations to help shape their financial plans by contributing to the consultation (external) which opened yesterday (07/08).
They explain that everyday they deliver service which support people and communities across the county - whether that be caring for vulnerable adults or maintaining roads - and that the budget they're setting out is what pays for such services.
They also say that, like other councils, they're facing increasing pressure on its finances and that around three quarters of their budget is spent on four essential services: adult social care, children's services, home-to-school transport and temporary accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.
The council also say changes to the way local government is funded also mean that a growing proportion of money raised locally in Buckinghamshire is being redistributed elsewhere, creating additional financial challenges for the council.
Bucks Council Leader Steven Broadbent told us that although they're facing pressure: "you'll see in our proposals, despite government cutting our funding by over £44 million, we've prioritised what residents tell us they want spending on, like road maintenance, like maintaining weekly bin collections, like building children's homes for examples.
"The point of the budget consultation here is keep telling us where you think we should spend more and potentially less."

The council as a whole say they remain in a "robust financial position" with value for money as one of its most important pillars and are continuing to plan ahead, finding smarter and more efficient ways of working, making good use of technology, reducing waste and making big savings while protecting the services residents depend on most.
The consultation runs until Sunday 18 October 2026.
