A group of Year 8 students from John Colet School, Wendover, have visited 10 Downing Street as part of the prestigious Lessons at No. 10 initiative.
Accompanied by four staff members, the students entered the heart of British government and experienced a memorable day that combined education with history. The visit began in the State Dining Room, where Mr. Clark led an interactive lesson on Winston Churchill, diving into his leadership during World War II and his lasting influence on Britain.
Following the engaging lesson, the students embarked on a guided tour of Downing Street, learning about the building’s rich history and its role in the daily operations of the British government. They explored rooms where pivotal decisions have been made, gaining unique insights into the workings of government. The experience was further enriched by a meeting with Larry, the iconic Chief Mouser to the Cabinet, who has resided at Downing Street for over a decade. This encounter with the famous feline was a delightful addition to the students' visit.
