They say it gives people the chance to make a real difference to their communities.
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley launched their search for new board members yesterday (21/10), looking for applicants from across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
By joining the board, they say residents would be helping to provide "challenge, scrutiny and assurance" to Thames Valley Police and the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.
The role also involves "acting as a critical friend, helping improve fairness, transparency and public confidence in policing by reviewing policies, practices and performance".They say they're especially keen to hear from people with professional expertise, lived experience or strong community connections "who can bring fresh perspectives and constructive challenge".
Members would be required to attend quarterly meetings, review performance data and evidence, represent local voices and help shape recommendations for improvement.
They're encouraging applications from people of all backgrounds as they "want the board to reflect the diverse communities they serve".
Applications close Sunday 29 November 2026 and you can find the link to apply, and more information about the role, here (external).
