It comes after a successful fundraising campaign by charity Scannappeal.
This afternoon (21/10) the brand-new state-of-the-art unit is set to be officially revealed at the Wades Centre in Princes Risborough.
The unit is designed to allow patients in South Bucks - including those in Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch, Prestwood, Chesham, and Amersham - to attend screening appointments closer to home, without travelling to hospital.
It was made possible by a successful £410,000 fundraising campaign supported by the local community. It was also backed by ITV breakfast show legend Lorraine, who told Scannappeal last year she supported the initiative "because regular breast screening saves lives" and she hopes "that the convenience of being able to attend an appointment close to home will encourage those invited for a free NHS mammogram to take full advantage of it.”
The unit is set to feature a unique design honouring major donors to the appeal, with every circle on a tree of life symbolising an individual, business, or group that contributed.
