Jack Wood marked a remarkable personal milestone as Aylesbury United won a ten-goal thriller on Friday night (28/8).
Wood, who initially signed on loan for the Ducks in 2010, made his 700th appearance for the club as United recovered from a 3-1 half-time deficit to storm to a 6-4 victory against Sittingbourne FC and secure their place in the next round of the FA Trophy.
United boss Paul Batchelor said he was “far happier at full-time than I was at half-time”, while Sittingbourne described the game as “one of the most bizarre and ridiculous FA Trophy ties in their history”.
On Wood’s remarkable 700th appearance, the club said the milestone “reflects years of loyalty, leadership, and passion for Aylesbury United”.
The Ducks return to league action on Bank Holiday Monday when they welcome Flackwell Heath to Holloways Park, Beaconsfield. Kick-off is at 3pm.
