New look Kingsbury and Market Square

Could Aylesbury Town centre get a continental makeover?

With tree lined streets and peaceful areas for quite contemplation, you'd be forgiven to for thinking the artists' impressions for Aylesbury's Market Square and Kingsbury are from a European city.

£4.5million has been committed to improve Aylesbury's important and historic Kingsbury and Market Square public spaces. The design concepts which have emerged from two earlier engagement opportunities, are now being shared for a final time before the detailed planning application is submitted.

Buckinghamshire Council's design and engagement partner Untitled Practice will be sharing the vision they have developed for these important spaces via an online exhibition and a series of zoom presentations between 15 – 24 February. The online sessions will allow participants to hear all about the plans, ask questions and give feedback.

Steve Bowles, Cabinet Member for Town Centre Regeneration said:

"Creating attractive and safe public spaces for use by everyone, has never been more important following the pandemic and its impact on town centres. The new square in the Exchange is extremely popular and we want to build on this experience.

This is your chance to help us re-design Aylesbury's treasured Kingsbury and Market Square public spaces for the future. These areas are the heart of the town centre and we want to hear from everyone that will use them to ensure they are the best they can be.

So, whether you live or work in Aylesbury, or visit to shop and socialise, please get involved. Book onto an online session now and visit the online exhibition between 15-24 February to tell us what you think of the proposals."

Separate online presentation sessions are available for Aylesbury residents and other town centre users, businesses, market traders, landlords, and anyone with a particular interest in heritage. The sessions run between Monday 15 February and Wednesday 24 February.

You can find out more and book onto a session by going to the project's website: kmspublicrealm.org/get-involved
