A man has been sentenced to prison for burglary and theft in Beaconsfield.

Sam Fellingham, aged 40, of Holly Place, Loudwater, High Wycombe, was sentenced to a total of 12 months in prison at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday (23/2).

He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in a dwelling and one count of theft at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on 28 January.

On 15 December last year, Fellingham broke into an address in Hedgerley Lane and stole jewellery to the value of £480.

The occupants were not in the property at the time of the offence.

Fellingham broke in via a window, and small droplets of blood on the floor in the conservatory and on a metal pole left in the garden proved to be crucial evidence.

Fellingham was also seen by a member of the public who described him as he made off from the rear of the property.

Marks from footwear were also left in snow and several items were discarded which also had blood on.

This blood was forensically identified as belonging to Fellingham, who was arrested on 26 January and charged the following day.

Investigating officer PC Adrian Reynolds said: “This was an extremely invasive and brash burglary, targeting a property that the offender knew to be unoccupied at the time.

“The owners of the property were not at home, but burglary is an offence which we take extremely seriously and will always investigate thoroughly.

“In this case, Sam Fellingham left behind lots of evidence to link him to the offence, and as a habitual offender, he has now been jailed.

“I hope that he will use his time in custody productively and reflect on his actions.

“Burglary causes a tremendous amount of upset to vicitms and communities, and we will tirelessly investigate such offences and bring to justice anybody who commit such crimes.”
