A man has been jailed for firearms offences in High Wycombe.
Hassan Ruhan, aged 25, of Suffield Road, High Wycombe, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday (3/4).
He was also sentenced to forfeit two firearms and ammunition for destruction.
In a hearing on 24 October 2022 at the same court, Ruhan pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.
On 18 May 2022, Ruhan was arrested in relation to an assault in Rutland Avenue five days earlier.
Officers then searched Ruhan’s room at an address in Suffield Road and located some car keys, which opened a car nearby.
In the boot of the vehicle, a pistol and a revolver were recovered along with ammunition.
Forensic scientists examined the weapons and Ruhan’s DNA was found on one of the firearms recovered.
Ruhan was charged on 20 May 2022.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Joe Windsor, of the South Buckinghamshire CID team, said: “Tragic events elsewhere in the county show just how dangerous these weapons are to innocent members of the public and I am glad they were seized before they were able to cause devastating harm.
“I am pleased that Hassan Ruhan will now face a lengthy prison sentence.
“We will always work with our partners to take these weapons off the streets and bring the people who use them to endanger our communities to justice.”
