Buckinghamshire Council have shared an update on the project, and it includes more overnight road closures.
Here's their statement in full:
Wendover Road roundabout
Works progressed well during the February half term road closure and the SEALR team managed to do all of the planned work plus some additional items during the closure and the road re-opened 1 day earlier than planned. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this closure caused.
Road users will have noticed that Northbound traffic has been using the West side of the roundabout since Saturday 28 February. This layout will remain in place until the Easter closure which will start at 1900 on Friday 27 March until 1800 12 April. More information regarding the closure will be provided in the next bulletin but arrangements will be very similar to the February half term road closure.
Stoke Mandeville Relief Road and SEALR Phase 2
HS2 need to undertake some remedial works on their Stoke Mandeville Relief Road. These works include carriageway repairs, road markings and other matters arising from a road safety audit. To do these works requires a road closure and they propose to do the works overnight between 2030-0530 on 13-15 March.
On SEALR Phase 2, there are some road marking works required to be undertaken on the Westbound approach to the roundabout West of Lower Road to narrow the carriageway as a result of the road safety audit. To minimise the impact on the network, these works will be done at the same time as the HS2 work with the SEALR work being undertaken on Saturday 14 March 2030-0530.
The diversion route for these closures will be Lower Road, Station Road, Wendover Road, Wendover Bypass, Nash Lee Road and vice versa
It is expected that the current temporary traffic management on Phase 2 will be removed in the coming weeks. Some works remain outstanding including further landscaping on the South side and resolution of safety audit issues.
The SEALR team are working to resolve the various construction matters promptly as well as ensuring that the relevant paperwork is in place to allow handover of the road from the contractor to the Council. Please note that it is expected that some queuing will remain in the Lower Road area, due to the circa. 20% increase in traffic on Lower Road as a result of HS2 closing the Risborough Road, until Phase 1 opens later this year.
Maintenance works - Churchill Avenue and Lower Road
Colleagues from SEALR and maintenance teams are in close liaison to co-ordinate works and reduce the impact they have. There are 2 sets of works taking place in the near future.
There will be 2-way temporary traffic signals on Churchill Avenue between 0930-1430 on 16-18 March for tree removal works near to the railway bridge.
There will also be 2-way temporary traffic signals on Lower Road near the bus stop just North of The Bell for drainage investigation work on 23 and 24 March between 0930-1500.
Bridge work
Work on the railway bridge continues with the reinforcement works in progress and around 50% complete. Work on the bridge concrete deck slab will be undertaken on 17 March with further work on 23 March and then 3 April. With the weather improving, some earthworks near to the bridge will also re-start.
The construction vehicles associated with both the earthworks and the highlighted dates above for the concrete pour will access the site from the Lower Road roundabout
The Council say there is a dedicated mailbox for the project sealr@buckinghamshire.gov.uk and they welcome emails and queries about the scheme.
Motorists are encouraged to keep an eye out for the electronic signs on site providing advanced information and to safely use sat navs as they can assist drivers with their journeys by providing live information on delays and to try to be patient if there are delays
