Young from schools across Buckinghamshire are gathering today at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for the Bucks Youth Summit 2026, an event designed to give students a platform to discuss issues that matter most to them.
The summit, organised by Youth Voice Bucks, has brought together students from across the county to share their perspectives, exchange ideas and contribute to conversations that could help shape services for young people in the future.
Participants are taking part in a series of interactive “conversation spaces”, where smaller groups are exploring key topics affecting young people. Discussions include areas such as active health, technology in education, social and emotional wellbeing, identity, community engagement and political participation.
In the Active Health discussion, students are exploring ways to encourage healthy lifestyles and increase access to sports and activities for young people. Meanwhile, the Technology in Education session is prompting conversations about the role of artificial intelligence and digital tools in schools.
Another discussion space focuses on Social and Emotional Health, where students are sharing experiences of school life and discussing ways to support wellbeing among their peers. The Identity session is giving participants the opportunity to talk about belonging, self-expression and respect for diversity.
Students are also considering how young people can make a difference locally during the Community Engagement workshop, while the Political Engagement conversation is highlighting the importance of youth participation in civic life.
Throughout the summit, facilitators and youth journalists are capturing key ideas from each discussion. These insights will later be shared with local organisations and decision-makers to ensure that the voices of young people help inform future plans and initiatives across Buckinghamshire.
