Hundreds of children take part in physical activity festivals across Aylesbury.

Nearly 600 children took part in a festival of activities across venues in Aylesbury on Thursday (6th July) as they were inspired to find a physical activity or sport that gives them a positive experience.

Dozens of schools from all over the county - from Wycombe to South Bucks, to Chiltern, Aylesbury Vale and Milton Keynes – took part in the event that gave many young people their first experience of participating in a major sporting event.

Students took part in activities from athletics to swimming, BMK, Skateboarding and multiskills. The school games enable children and young people to take part in physical activity and sport in a positive way for them, from confidence building and skill development to competitive opportunities and all activities have young people's voices and positive experiences at their heart.

The longstanding annual event organised by Leap, also provided a platform to launch a pioneering new partnership to enhance opportunities to move and inspires young people to take part in physical activity.

Working with Stoke Park, Leap and SportsAid will mobilise 20 young talented athletes to inspire others young people to achieve their personal best. Five of the athletes attended the festival at Aston Clinton Park to inspire the young participants.

The purpose of the partnership is to connect and activate the various elements to meet the primary objectives of a renewed Stoke Park Club as an important organisation in the county community, i.e. to innovate, be inclusive and create impact.
20 young talented SportsAid athletes will inspire and engage with pupils across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes during the 2023/2024 academic year.

The School Games is one of several programmes aimed at giving young people a positive experience of physical activity and to help develop vital skills like resilience, communication and teamwork.

Leap is working with key partners to help schools, families and communities make active lives the norm for children and young people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. For more information on the School Games or details of Leap’s work visit www.leapwithus.org.uk
