Local nurses and patients have starred in a film encouraging people to join Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust's community nursing team.
The short film, which also has stunning location footage of the county as a backdrop, demonstrates why working as a community nurse is such a rewarding, highly skilled profession.
District Nurse Yvonne Sakala, who took part in the film, said: "I'm not used to being in front of the camera and my day job is 'uniform and medical bag' rather than 'hair and makeup', but I braved the nerves to show people behind the scenes of our very special role."
Community Staff Nurse Sarah Dunk, who also appears in the film, added: "When you're fresh out of training, working in a hospital is often seen as the obvious step, but there's so much to discover about community nursing. I love it when people have a smile on their face when I turn up at their door."
The real stars of the show, however, were patients Indeep and Elaine – who invited the cameras into their homes and explained the difference community nursing makes to their lives.
Indeep, who had a spinal cord injury and was treated and rehabbed at Stoke Mandeville Hospital's National Spinal Injury Centre, said: "Community nurses like Yvonne and Sarah enable me to work and live an independent life. They keep me out of hospital which is the most important thing for me. They are the front line."
The Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust community nursing team has bases all over the county – in Aylesbury, Amersham, Buckingham, Chalfont St Giles, High Wycombe, Marlow and Thame.
