Winslow Health Centre has undergone a £1.8 million upgrade to become a greener and more environmentally friendly healthcare facility.
With NHS Property Services paying for the refurbishment capital costs, Winslow Health Centre now boasts six consulting rooms, five treatment rooms and one purpose-built dispensary - providing ample space to offer wide-ranging healthcare services and increasing capacity for the local community.
Winslow Health Centre healthcare team are excited to begin treating people from a centre of excellence in sustainable healthcare.
Key changes to improve the centre's green credentials and reduce carbon footprint include:
- A unique render to the external walls which look like normal bricks, but are more energy-efficient.
- Using Blaugelb 16, a special window insulation product that improves insulation and helps conserve energy.
- The integration of air source heat pumps, a new ventilation system, and solar panels.
These measures reduce the building's reliance on traditional energy sources and significantly decrease carbon emissions.
Phillipa Baker, Integrated Care Board Place Director for Buckinghamshire told us "The ICB are delighted that NHS Property Services took the initiative and provided a much-needed refurbishment to this health centre, giving it new lease of life and allowing the Practice much-needed additional capacity".
"The ICB also appreciate the level of engagement and communication given by NHS Property Services throughout the period of refurbishment".
This feeling was echoed by Nick MacDonald-Smith, Net Zero Carbon Lead at NHS Property Services "We're thrilled to announce the completion of the refurbishment works at Winslow Health Centre, a great example of our commitment to sustainable healthcare".
"By incorporating advanced technologies and design principles, we've established a facility that not only reduces its carbon footprint but also provides an optimal care environment for patients and staff."
