Thames Valley Air Ambulance was honoured to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to its headquarters in Stokenchurch yesterday, (15/01/26) marking a special visit from the charity’s Royal Patron and a former patient.
During her visit, Thames Valley Air Ambulance showcased the breadth of its lifesaving work. The Duchess toured the charity’s education and operations areas, gaining an insight into how crews prepare for some of the most critical emergencies across the region. She also observed a live training exercise, seeing first-hand the skill, teamwork and rapid decision-making required of air ambulance crews.

In a hands-on moment, Duchess of Edinburgh explored vital medical equipment used on missions and even took part in practising lifesaving CPR, highlighting her longstanding commitment to emergency care and patient outcomes.

As Royal Patron, The Duchess has been a passionate advocate for the charity’s mission. Her personal experience as a former patient has given her a unique understanding of the impact that rapid, specialist pre-hospital care can have on saving lives.

Speaking after the visit, Thames Valley Air Ambulance said it was “truly honoured” to welcome The Duchess and to share how her continued support helps keep the charity at the frontline of emergency medicine, delivering critical care when it matters most.
