Man fined over £4000 for flytipping in Bucks

Whether it's a brazen act in the middle of the day or an attempt to hide behind the cloak of a dark night, you cannot get away with fly-tipping in Buckinghamshire as one criminal found out recently.

Sorin-Loan Bucatarui, aged 38, from Uxbridge in Middlesex found this out when he was caught on camera in Black Park last year.

Appearing at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Wednesday 27 September 2023, Bucatarui pleaded guilty to the offence of illegally dumping waste.

The court heard that on Friday 30 September 2022, waste including boxes, bags and a large pile of green waste was found dumped at Black Park Road, Black Park in Buckinghamshire. Buckinghamshire Council's Enforcement Team carries out regular surveillance in the area due to it being heavily blighted with fly-tipping.

On this occasion the crime was caught on a camera which recorded the suspect's vehicle arriving at the location during the night. The driver was filmed going to the back of the vehicle and opening the rear doors. The next image showed a large pile of waste dumped in the lay-by.

The vehicle was traced back to a hire company in Slough and later found to have been in the possession of Sorin-Loan Bucatarui on the date of the offence. Mr Bucatarui attended an interview at Slough Police Station, where he reluctantly admitted the dumping offence.

In court, magistrates fined Bucatarui £2,154 and ordered him to pay a contribution of £1,232.77 towards the Council's clean up and investigation costs.  A victim surcharge of £862 was also levied – making a total to pay of £4,248.77.
