Ross Hockham, founder of the Milton Keynes based charity UK Astronomy, received a Doctor of the University degree from The Open University in recognition of his outstanding public service in astronomy education and outreach.

From schools to care homes, and even online, UK Astronomy has grown into a thriving community of over 25,000 members.
His dedication to making the wonders of the night sky accessible has earned him national recognition, including the Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister and a British Citizens Medal of Honour.
