Members of the public are being invited to join Buckingham Town Council staff, Councillors, volunteers from the Stowe Sub Aqua Group to clear out a stretch of the River Great Ouse in Buckingham.
Fallen branches and debris are removed helping to maintain the flow of the river. In the past findings in the areas being covered this year have included, old bottles, laptop, tires, traffic cones and more.
The first rinse will take place on tomorrow, going up stream from Chandos Park through the university grounds to Fishers Field.
They will be meeting at the island car park at the university on Sunday 25th September at 10:15am ready to start at 10:30am. Volunteers you should wear suitable clothing and footwear. Litter pickers, gloves and bags will be provided. Children must be supervised at all times by parents or guardian.
If you are unable to make it this Sunday, then the next rinse will be on Sunday 9th October starting from the bypass bridge in Bourton Park and working upstream towards the cricket club. They will be meeting at 10:15am in the car park in Bourton Park.
Cllr Robin Stuchbury, Chairman of the Town Centre and Events Committee said ‘For two decades, the Town Council, Stowe Sub Aqua Group and members of the community come together to maintain the river and look after its environment. We look forward to seeing anyone who would like to come along and be part of this community project’.
