Buckinghamshire Highways have now discovered a disused drainage channel nearly two metres beneath the A413 near Bubbles Car Wash, Little Missenden, during investigations into a sinkhole.
This unexpected find means we need to carry out essential repairs.
To do this safely, the A413 will be closed in this area from 6am Saturday 5 July to 6am Monday 7 July. Diversions will be in place.
They are working closely with utility companies already operating nearby to coordinate efforts and minimise disruption. However, they strongly advise motorists to avoid the area over the weekend if possible.
Buckinghamshire Highways has announced an emergency full road closure on the A413 in Great Missenden, near Bubbles Car Wash, following the discovery of a void in the carriageway.
Authorities are currently on-site and prioritising a thorough inspection to determine the cause and extent of the issue. The nature of the void remains unknown at this stage.
A diversion route has been set up, but motorists are being strongly advised to avoid the area if possible, as the closure is expected to cause significant disruption and delays.
Buckinghamshire Highways has apologised for the inconvenience and emphasised that the closure is necessary to ensure public safety during the inspection process.
