UPDATE: Buckinghamshire Highways have confirmed Stoke Road is now closed between the Gyratory and Mandeville Road.
The diversion route will be via the A413 Wendover Road, A4010 Station Road and B443 Mandeville Road.
Buckinghamshire Highways say " We recognise that this will be disruptive, however, it will allow for the Gyratory to operate more efficiently. UKPN have advised that the closure will likely be in place until the 03 March 2025. Where it has been possible, other planned road works in the vicinity have been re-arranged and/or removed.
Multi-way temporary lights on Stoke Road had caused long tailbacks this morning (25/2) with journeys through town taking over an hour.
The UKPN is necessary to help restore power to residents in the area, some of who have been without electricity since the earlier hours of Tuesday.
Callers to the Bucks Radio Jamline reported long queues around town, with some children being over half an hour or more late for school.
