It comes as part of an initiative by the charity Aurora New Dawn.
Aurora, a feminist-led charity working to end violence against women and children, announced today (27/10) that their DVA Car service is now in Buckinghamshire.
The service involves Aurora staff accompanying police officers on domestic violence call-outs to support victims, with the service's time in Hampshire said to have supported over 3,000 victims in times of crisis.
The charity say they'll be working in partnership with Thames Valley Police, the Office of the Police and Crimes Commissioner for Thames Valley and Buckinghamshire Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service to bring the project into the area on selected evenings.
Describing the service in more detail on their website (external), Aurora said the nature of the service is to "show the victim that they aren’t alone" and "to offer someone independent who genuinely believes them".
They say that one of their research reports on the effectiveness of DVA cars found 100% of victims agreed to speak with Aurora staff, with 100% also agreeing to take information about support services, with 50% still engaged with those services more than a month later.
