Residents are reminded that a £150 council tax rebate announced by the Chancellor in February this year must be claimed before August 2022.
The Treasury made the pledge following revelations about imminent increases in energy bills in an attempt to soften the blow.
If you pay your council tax bill by direct debit then you will automatically receive the rebate and no action is required.
But those who do not use this method of payment must make their claims by August or risk losing out.
You can make your claim here: https://www.grantapproval.co.uk/
The £150 rebate is for council tax bands A to D. Those receiving Council Tax Support are still eligible for the energy rebate.
The government has also provided Buckinghamshire Council with a discretionary fund so it can determine how to help households in Council Tax bands E to H who are energy bill payers. This is up to a maximum payment of £150 per household.
You can claim a one-off energy rebate if on 1 April 2022 your property was:
- Someone’s sole or main residence valued in Council Tax bands E to H who are in receipt of any of the following benefits or reductions:
- Income support
- Job Seeker’s Allowance (Income Based)
- Employment Support Allowance (Income Related)
- Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Reduction
- Entitled to a class U exemption (severely mentally impaired) and you have not received any other energy rebate payment
- A dwelling with a council tax band F to H and you are in receipt of a Council Tax reduction for disability
