Appeal for witnesses following robberies of businesses

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following robberies in Amersham and Chesham Bois.

At approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday (21/2) two men entered Ivy Stores, Plantation Road in Amersham and threatened a member of staff with a knife, then stole a number of items from the store.

Offenders left the scene with cash, vapes and tobacco. No one was injured during the incident.

At around 5.30pm yesterday (22/2) two men entered the Londis store in Bois Lane, Chesham Bois. One of the men was carrying an axe and made threats towards a member of staff demanding the till be opened. As one of the offenders walked behind the counter towards the till, he hit the staff member to the head with the axe causing significant injuries.

Both offenders left the scene with cash and vapes. The victim is receiving treatment for their injuries in hospital.

Detective Sergeant Campbell Smith, based at Amersham police station, said: “These incidents are very concerning and we are investigating them as being linked. No one should face this level of violence just for doing their job and a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible.

“We are working closely with our neighbourhood policing teams to support local businesses and you will see more officers in the area as part of extra patrols, as well as carrying out our investigation.

“If you have any information about either of these incidents or were driving in the area at the time and have a dash-cam in your vehicle, I urge you to get in touch. You can contact us using our online form or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43240085255. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website. ”
