It's been announced today that all 400 Branches of Wilko are likely to close by October, including, Aylesbury, Bicester, Bletchley, High Wycombe, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes.
It had previously been thought a rescue package from the billionaire owner of HMV, Doug Putman, would save around 300 stores, including Aylesbury. However, according to the GMB union, that deal appears to have fallen through, with rising costs complicating the agreement. Reports suggest no other bidders are interested in running shops under the Wilko name, although some parties, including B&M and Poundland, are interested in rebranding the stores. It's unknown at this point whether any jobs will be saved or if Wilko workers will be given preference if they apply.
