Police are asking Winslow residents to check their CCTV and doorbell cams after a suspected attempted dog theft in the village.
Between 3.30pm-4.15pm on Wednesday (10/3) the victim was walking their dog in the fields at the end of Bell Walk, Winslow. As they were walking, they were confronted by a man who came from the direction of the sheep paddock and commented on their dog. He then hit the victim to the head with a large branch causing a superficial injury to their face.
The victim ran away with their dog.
The offender is described as a white man in his mid-thirties, approx. 5ft 10ins-5ft 11ins tall with stubble on his face, wearing a pea coat and a dark hat.
Three men were also seen in the field at the time of the offence and we are keen to speak with them as they may have vital information about this incident.
Police are asking If you live near Granborough Road and Horn Street and have CCTV or a doorbell camera, to please check your cameras from between 3.15pm-4.15pm on Wednesday for footage that may help to identify the offender and the three other men who may have witnessed this incident.
They're also asking for dash-cam footage if you were driving in the area at this time.
If you have any information, you're being asked to get in touch using TVP's online form at https://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/.../tell-us-about.../ and quote ref 43210100532, or call 101.
Officers say even though there are a lot of reports about dog theft on social media at the moment, in the Thames Valley, the number of reported dog thefts remains low. However, they say this may mean that there are thefts or attempted thefts that have not been reported to police.
