As we know bucks has a long and proud Paralympic heritage, and this year it will be recognised as part of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic torch relay.
To celebrate Stoke Mandeville being seen as the birthplace of the Paralympics. the fourth Paralympic Heritage Flame Lighting Ceremony will be taking place tomorrow at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
Stoke Mandeville will welcome torch bearers Jane Blackburn and Susie Rodgers MBE, as well as local sport and community groups to this unique outdoor celebration.
and its all part of the five-day-long official Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Torch Relay.
Bucks Council along with local charity WheelPower, Walk the Plank, and Leap have all been involved in getting residents involved in the ceremony, by providing workshops and special events.
And although there may be no tickets available for the event due to COVID, you can watch the highlights of the Ceremony on Channel 4’s evening news programme tomorrow. (Thursday 18th August)
