Police appeal for witnesses after driver flees scene of crash in High Wycombe

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to a serious injury collision in High Wycombe in which the driver failed to stop at the scene.

It happened at approximately 7.05am on Tuesday 22 June in Chairborough Road.

A black Audi S4 Quattro was in a collision with a stationary van and a bus travelling in the opposite direction, the driver of the Quattro then got out of the vehicle and was in an altercation with an unknown member of the public before he left the scene.

The injured person was a passenger in the Audi and he had to be cut free from the vehicle by the fire service before being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he remains at this time.

The injured man is currently unable to recall the incident, and officers are now making an appeal for further witnesses.

Investigating officer PC Danielle Layton of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, based at Amersham police station, said:

“I am aware that there is footage of the aftermath of this event circulating on social media and I would appeal for anybody who has any CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“I would be particularly keen to speak to the person who filmed the footage that is on social media, and would ask that person to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43210273722.

“You can also make a report online, or for 100% anonymity, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“I believe there were numerous witnesses to this collision who have not yet come forward, and a specific person is the driver of a Vauxhall Zafira, who I believe will have been a witness to the dangerous driving incident and the physical altercation.

“Any calls to the police will be treated in the strictest confidence, and so anybody with any information are urged to please get in touch with us.”
