MP Steve Baker gives view on new film being shot in Wycombe after complaints

By Charlie Smith - Local Democracy Reporter

MP Steve Baker has given his view on a new film being shot in Wycombe after some residents complained about the plans.

Element Pictures has been given permission to shoot new move ‘Bugonia’ on a grassed clearing previously used for Tough Mudder in the village of Fawley off Benhams Lane.

Mr Baker said: “Fawley is in a very beautiful part of the England, and so there are often requests from TV and film studios to use our lovely landscape in their productions.

“I can see from the planning applications that there are residents both in support and against the project.”

Several residents backed Element’s plans to put up a temporary set and use the land for filmmaking.

Glen Pettit wrote to say he welcomed the ‘income generated locally’ by such projects, while Camila Strang said the ‘exciting’ plans were ‘tucked away’ on private land and unlikely to affect residents.

But not everyone agreed, with several people objecting to the plans on the grounds that they were not consulted and that there may be resultant noise and traffic.

Save Marlow’s Greenbelt said in an online statement that it ‘felt for local residents impacted by disturbance’, pointing out that a previous temporary film set for Star Wars in Marlow caused disruption.

Mr Baker said the Bucks Council will have taken into account the concerns and benefits of the project.

He said: “I am pleased that Bucks Council have confirmed that the land must be fully returned to its original state once filming is completed.”
