Local Runner Takes on London Marathon for Youth Charity

A local runner and long-standing charity supporter, Simon Lacey, has announced he will take part in the London Marathon 2026 to raise funds for Youth Concern.

After years of entering the ballot, Simon has finally secured a place in the iconic race and will join thousands of runners on Sunday 26 April 2026.

Youth Concern is an independent charity supporting young people aged 13–25 across Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire. The organisation provides vital services including a drop-in centre on Whitehill Lane, counselling support, and accommodation for homeless young adults aged 18–25.

Simon, who has supported the charity for many years, said running the marathon felt like a natural next step in his commitment.

“Youth Concern plays a crucial role for young people in Aylesbury Vale, often when they need it most,” he said. “I’m proud to be running on the charity’s behalf and to help raise funds that will allow them to continue their life-changing work.

Hannah Asquith, CEO of Youth Concern, praised Simon’s efforts:

“We are incredibly grateful to Simon for choosing to support Youth Concern through such a huge personal challenge. The funds he raises will make a real difference to young people across Aylesbury Vale, helping them feel safe, seen and supported to live with confidence, purpose and possibility.”

Supporters are encouraged to donate through Givey, where 100% of donations go directly to the charity. The platform ensures secure transactions and does not share donor details with third parties, except with the chosen charity.
