All 11 schools in Great Learners Trust, a primary multi-academy trust in Buckinghamshire, have been recognised for their work with families.
The accreditation follows an assessment of each school’s policies, procedures and practices, with all meeting the required standard for parent participation. Schools were evaluated against 485 criteria as part of Parentkind’s Blueprint Framework for Parent Participation. The framework, developed over five years in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, looks at how schools engage with families across areas including communication, home learning, involvement in school life and community partnerships. Parentkind said the accreditation recognises schools that demonstrate strong practice in working with parents. Rachael Smith, service lead for Parent-Friendly Schools, said the schools had shown a clear commitment to supporting family involvement in children’s learning. She added that school leaders had demonstrated care for their communities and that the trust would continue working with schools to build on their approach to engaging parents. Great Learners Trust said the recognition reflects a wider focus on strengthening relationships between schools and their communities. The trust has identified “engaged communities” as a key priority in its strategy for 2025 to 2030, with an emphasis on improving communication and partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community. One school, Great Missenden Church of England School, is working towards a higher Gold-level award. It has already achieved the Leading Parent Partnership Award from Optimus Education. The schools within the trust are Bearbrook Combined School, Bedgrove Junior School, Elmhurst School, Great Kimble Church of England School, Manor Farm Junior School, Prestwood Village Schools, Princes Risborough Primary School, West Wycombe Combined School and Wooburn Green Primary School.
