Chesham and Amersham MP, Sarah Green, this week attended a family fun day hosted by local charity, Restore Hope and says the government must do more to support struggling families.
Restore Hope provides practical support, including food boxes for families experiencing difficult circumstances, as well as running a schools programme.
With the ongoing cost of living crisis hitting families hard, demand for Restore Hope's services has been increasing.
This week, families were invited to the organisation's Summer Family Day to enjoy games, picnics, animals, tractor-trailer rides and other activities.
The Liberal Democrat MP said: “Seeing children and families out enjoying themselves at Restore Hope's Summer Family Day was really lovely.”
It was following a meeting last week with the charity's Acting Director, Jo Clare, who expressed concern over the increased demand on the charity’s services, that Ms Green made the plea to the government to act.
She said: “Organisations like these can only plug the gap for so long – the government must take decisive action to support struggling families through the cost-of-living crisis now.”
On the charity’s work, Sarah Green MP added:
“It was great to witness first-hand the impressive range of support on offer for children and families at Restore Hope. This organisation, its staff and volunteers are doing a great deal of good for our community and making a huge difference to the lives of the families they support.”
