Buckinghamshire Council say they’re aware of illegal parking around food outlets in Aylesbury, and are increasing their own enforcement patrols as a result. They are also concerned about reports of speeding by delivery drivers.
Residents and shoppers in Aylesbury say delivery drivers are blocking pavements, ignoring pedestrian only zones, and speeding in the town centre. The reports are generally about motorcyclists.
Steven Broadbent, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, told Bucks Radio:
"We want our town centres to be safe environments for everyone and we share residents concerns if speeding by delivery drivers and other similar vehicles has been observed. We are also aware of concerns about illegal parking on the pavements particularly around food outlets.
While speeding along the pavements is a police matter, we have increased our own enforcement patrols in the area to check vehicles are only parking to load and unload and not for longer periods of time and will monitor the general usage of the area, enforcing where we can, and passing on information to the police to enforce as appropriate.
We would urge people who witness any parking contraventions to report these using the Fix My Street link on the council's website so we can patrol at the identified times and if they witness speeding or dangerous driving to report this to the police."
