The countdown to Christmas continued in Aylesbury with the Town Mayor’s Carol Service on Sunday.
This popular civic event took place and was attended by local dignitaries, representatives of local groups, local councillors and residents.
The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Steven Lambert, led the mayoral civic procession from the Town Hall to St Mary’s Church in Aylesbury.
The service was led by Fr Doug Zimmerman. Carols were performed by Aylesbury Consort of Voices and St Mary’s Church Choir with soloist Libby Hough. Plus special performances, including “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, by Bedgrove Junior School Choir. Music was by Aylesbury Concert Band.
Readings were given by the Mayor of Aylesbury Cllr Steven Lambert, His Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire Sir Francis Habgood QPM, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire Dame Ann Limb DBE DL, Deputy Town Mayor Cllr Alan Sherwell, Age UK Buckinghamshire CEO Mark Russell, Youth Concern Trustee Paul McPartlan and Town Mayor’s Consort Miguel Pepe.
Following the service, mulled wine and mince pies were served by the Aylesbury Lions and Town Councillors. The Town Council thank Waitrose Aylesbury, Tesco Broadfields and Morrisons Aylesbury for donating these. Contributions were collected in aid of the Town Mayor’s charities of the year, Youth Concern and Age UK Buckinghamshire.
