48 hour drive to Triumph for charity

John Abra, from Nash, is part of a team driving a Triumph for 48 hours non-stop round the country to raise money for a charity helping those with a devastating disease.

Along with his friends Andrew and Matt, Team JAM will join The Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run this weekend. The challenge, that takes place every two years, will help raise funds for the Huntington's Disease Charity. John told us more about the condition:

Team JAM will be driving for 48 hours in John's Triumph 2500 Mk 2. He's carried out extensive mechanical renovation in preparation for the event, with collective input from the team helping with the engine and gearbox refurbishment.  They'll leave Knebworth House this evening (6/10), travel north to John O'Groats before returning south to Lands End, finishing back at Knebworth House on Sunday (8/10).

The Event

The Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run has taken place since 1966, raising over £800,000 for UK charities.

From the first event in 1966 the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run is unchanged in its objective to drive around Britain, covering nearly 2000 miles visiting control stops staffed by Club Triumph marshals in 48 hours with no overnight stops. The event is sanctioned by the UK Motor Sports Association and fulfils all the criteria expected of a Touring Assembly.

An inherited, genetic disease affecting around 55,000 people in the UK. There is no cure for Huntington's disease but the charity offers support and information to those living with this devastating illness.The Huntington's Disease Association supports anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales and pursue the best possible care, training & advice to families and professionals. They also raise awareness, and promote research towards better treatment and care.
