Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity and South Bucks Hospice are set to join forces, with a merger expected to be finalised by September
The two Buckinghamshire-based charities are well known for their work supporting patients and families through some of life’s toughest moments. And with demand for hospice care rising fast—thanks to an ageing population and growing need—the charities say it makes sense to team up.
The merger aims to help both organisations operate more efficiently, pool their resources, and ultimately offer even better care to people across Bucks and surrounding areas.

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity currently funds in-patient, out-patient, and at-home care from its base at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Meanwhile, South Bucks Hospice runs a wide range of out-patient services from Butterfly House in High Wycombe. Together, they’ve got over 40 years of experience behind them.
While the merger talks continue, both charities stress that current services will carry on as normal. They’ll be keeping staff, patients and the public in the loop with updates via their websites and newsletters.
The message is clear: this merger isn’t about cutting corners—it’s about strengthening care and support for those who need it most.
