Something In The Heavens

Aylesbury Wombles need a new Womble wagon!

The Aylesbury Wombles wagon is no longer road worthy, and they are appealing for a local business to team up with, ideally to provide a van that they can use to continue their work cleaning up Aylesbury.

The Wombles started just over 2 years ago, and have collected over 7,000 bags from the streets, parks and bodies of water in Aylesbury in that time - not including the big bulky items they find! They also try to recycle anything that folk leave behind, with over one and a half tonnes for aluminium cans in 9 months collected and recylced. This generates a very small about of income, which they use to buy bags, litter pickers, and pay for insurance.

Womble Richard Walker told us:

"Our estate car has gone bang, it's beyond repair, but it was getting too small for our equipment anyway, so it seems like a perfect opportunity to ask local business to join forces with us and sponsor and donate a van."

"We're getting desperate where we need new big wheels to get around, we can't grow or get any bigger, as soon as we get these wheels on the road we can get bigger!"
