Aylesbury United's sponsored walk raises more than £2,000

The group of Ducks fans walked rom the club’s former Buckingham Road stadium in Aylesbury to walk 25 kilometres to Creasey Park in Dunstable, raising money for the Cancer Care & Haematology Fund.

On Saturday morning (30 October), setting off at 7.45am, the group took just over five hours to get to Dunstable.

The home team rewarded by their visitors with a hot meal and drinks. The walkers’ were then treated to a fabulous performance from the team, who beat second-placed AFC Dunstable 2-1 with two goals from midfielder Max Hercules.

In addition to raising money for the CCHF, which supports the work of the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the walk also aimed to draw attention to the fact it is 15 years since the club played its home games in Aylesbury and the continued efforts to #BringTheDucksHome.

Andy Martin, director at Aylesbury United, and chair of supporters' trust 21st Century Ducks, said:

“The generosity of Ducks fans is truly astonishing, and we’re over the moon to be able to raise so much for such a worthy local cause. The amount raised shows that even though the first team has played outside the town for 15 years, we’re a club that remains at the heart of the community.”

Donations on behalf of the charity are still welcome, and can be made at: https://www.peoplesfundraising.com/donation/cchf-and-aylesbury-united
