Aylesbury Town Council got the ball rolling over two years ago, but today (9/8) plans have been put forward which could include a graded football stadium, indoor sports hall and an education centre.
Leader of Aylesbury Town Council Richard Lloyd told us more about it:
He spoke to us about the importance of these new plans for the town:
The site, which would sit on land of the former Aylesbury Golf Club, could potentially mean a return to town for Aylesbury United for the first time since 2006, as well as providing somewhere to play for many local clubs.
The proposal also has the support from Aylesbury-born, ex-professional footballer and Honorary Freeman of the Parish of Aylesbury, Emmerson Boyce, who said “I am the proud ambassador of the Aylesbury Community Project and I truly believe that a new, captivating sporting facility will inspire the next generation of future stars."
Aylesbury Town Council will now be in further discussions with the landowner, Ernest Cook Trust, HS2 and EKFB.
