Between 11pm yesterday (13/6) and 1am today (14/6), two men presented to hospital with grievous bodily harm level injuries.
Following enquiries, it suggested that the injuries were from an incident that we believe involved a bladed weapon that occurred in the area of the Waterside North Car Park, Exchange Street.
The first victim, a man in his forties, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
The second victim, a man in his twenties, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been discharged.
No arrests have been made at this current time.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Chrisitan Meichsner said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault and saw what happened to please contact us.
“I would particularly like to hear from anyone who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who was using Waterside North Car Park or in the area of Exchange Street at that time.
“I appreciate that this incident would have been very concerning to anyone who witnessed it and those living in the local area and I would like to reassure you that we are investigating as a priority today.
“We understand this incident will be concerning for people, but we believe this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.”
