COVID lockdowns have hit hospitality, tourism and aviation especially hard
But according to Bucks Council, every sector has been affected in some way.
Here's the grim picture:
- Around 400 businesses are described as at critical risk,
- Around 4,000 more struggling financially,
- 38% of businesses in Bucks have experienced lower turnover than last year.
- 15,000 people are claiming benefits, with this number expected to go up once the government's furlough scheme ends.
The problem is described as 'cash flow', essentially businesses are being forced to borrow more and they haven't got much money coming in.
That's where Bucks Council comes in. Unlike some of our neighbouring authorities, the council say they're pushing out cash to local businesses now, putting them in a position where they can rebound, once restrictions ease.
