They reflect our dedication to providing convenient and sustainable waste disposal options for residents across Buckinghamshire. We greatly value customer feedback, which helps us maintain high standards and drive ongoing improvements."
The HRCs are managed by FCC Environment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council. Ian Scott-Browne, FCC Environment's HRC Contract Manager, added:
"These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our on-site teams and support staff. It's especially encouraging to see strong awareness of our reuse scheme, which plays a vital role in reducing waste and supporting the local community."
Reuse scheme success
The survey also explored awareness of the reuse facilities at Aston Clinton and High Wycombe HRCs. These shops, operated by South Bucks Hospice, collect reusable items from all 10 sites for resale, helping to divert waste and support hospice care.
- In 2024/2025, 595 tonnes of reusable items were collected – equivalent to the weight of over 100 elephants!
- Popular donated items include bikes, furniture, garden ornaments, crockery, and sports equipment.
- 71% of respondents were aware that reusable items are separated at all HRCs.
- 58% said they would donate if they knew what items were accepted.
The reuse shops are open during HRC operating hours and have dedicated parking. All proceeds support palliative care services for patients with life-limiting illnesses in Buckinghamshire.
Nick Callaghan, CEO of South Bucks Hospice, commented:
"The Recycling Centres provide vital income that helps us deliver essential hospice services. We're grateful for the high standards maintained by FCC and Buckinghamshire Council. Donors and shoppers alike find the experience rewarding, and this is clearly reflected in the survey results."
