Jobs at the the theatre could be affected by restructuring proposals, as Buckinghamshire Council separately considers changes to the future operation of the venue.
The theatre’s operator, ATG Entertainment, is proposing changes to the way it operates theatres across the UK, which could affect roles in areas including marketing, sales and development, ticketing and box office.
The proposals could also affect ATG Inspire, the organisation’s creative learning and community engagement programme, and are currently subject to consultation. Any changes could also affect staff at Milton Keynes Theatre.
The council is proposing to put the operation of Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and Wycombe Swan out to tender at the same time, with their future contracts running to aligned timescales, although each theatre would retain a separate contract. Nothing in the report prevents ATG from bidding again.
The move is intended to reduce the amount Buckinghamshire Council pays towards running the theatres. Under the proposed new arrangement, the operator would not receive a management fee from the council, although the council would continue to have a role in areas including programming, community access and work with schools.
The Leader of the Council is expected to make a decision on October 14th 2026. You can see the Council's proposal here (external link).

The two venues are currently run by different operators, with Trafalgar Entertainment running Wycombe Swan.
Aylesbury Waterside Theatre opened in October 2010 and hosts touring West End productions, comedy, music and its annual Christmas pantomime.
Bucks Radio has approached ATG Entertainment for comment on the proposed restructuring and any potential impact on jobs at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
