New Year’s Day babies arrive in Buckinghamshire

First New Years Day baby and her proud parents

As 2026 began, midwives at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust were hard at work supporting families to welcome seven babies at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The first baby of the day was a girl, born at 02:24, weighing just over 9lbs. The new parents said: “Our midwives were a massive part of our journey. Honestly, we couldn’t have done it without them. There were so many times I thought I was going to break, and they helped deliver the most precious thing!”

Michelle East, Director of Midwifery, said: “Starting the year with such special arrivals is truly heart-warming. Congratulations to all the families and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2026.”

Maternity service welcomed five new babies on Christmas Day at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
The first baby boy was Baby Adrian, born at 05:43, weighing 2660g.

Baby Yashfa was the first girl, born at 06:06, weighing 2890g.
