The upgrade comes as part of Buckinghamshire council's play area improvement programme.
Children and families from Aylesbury can enjoy a wide-range of new and inclusive equipment thanks to £150,000 worth of developer contributions. The park's upgrades aims to 'support physical, social and sensory play for children of all ages and abilities'.
Visitors now have access to a large multi‑play unit, a small outdoor gym, new seating, a popular 'trackway' glider and younger children now have their own café‑themed toddler multi‑play unit. The site also includes new accessible features such as an inclusive swing seat, basket swing and learning panels, including a communication panel to promote interaction between children with different needs.
Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure, Peter Brazier, said that 'these improvements provide exciting new opportunities for play while making sure the park is accessible to everyone – and I know local families will enjoy the space for many years to come'.
He also highlighted that 'the new play area at Whitehill Park is a fantastic example of how developer contributions can directly benefit the community'.
