Buckingham born Bernie Marsden, one of the original members of Whitesnake, has died.
Bernie featured in several local bands in the late 60's, before joining Whitesnake in 1978. During his time with the band he co-wrote their smash hit "Here I Go Again". He was also part of Ringo Starr's All Star Band.
In 2015, the University of Buckingham granted him an honorary Master of Arts degree, and he also hosted guitar master classes at Stowe House.
Marsden, who still lived in Bucks, died peacefully on Thursday evening with family by his side. He was 72.
On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness we announce the death of Bernie Marsden. Bernie died peacefully on Thursday evening with his wife, Fran, and daughters, Charlotte & Olivia, by his side.
