The Environment Agency has confirmed today that the Thames region including Buckinghamshire is now officially in drought status.
While this does not automatically trigger restrictions, water companies will likely roll out plans soon, sure to include hosepipe bans, to manage the water shortage.
Eight out of 14 areas across England are officially in drought. They are:
- Devon and Cornwall
- Solent and South Downs
- Kent and South London
- Herts and North London
- East Anglia
- Thames
- Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire
- East Midlands
Buckinghamshire has an amber weather warning in operation between Thursday 11th August and Sunday 14th August due to the extreme heat, where temperatures in the county are likely to reach 35°C for sustained periods.
