Laura Kyrke-Smith raised the issue with the minister responsible for the Post Office in a letter.
Following the news earlier this week that post offices in the High Street's TG Jones and in Bedgrove's Morrisons Daily would be closing next month, Laura Kyrke-Smith has written to Blair McDougall to raise her concerns.
In her letter, she said that whilst she appreciates that the Post Office has "indicated it is seeking replacement operators" - having already received expressions of interests - "the fact remains" that Aylesbury will lose two key branches within weeks of each other. She added that this will inevitably reduce access to essential services for many residents, particularly the elderly and disabled who rely on local facilities.
With uncertainty on the timeframe for permanent replacement services, Kyrke-Smith also called for clarity on when these could be expected and what alternative provisions might be available in the mean time.
She also requested that the minister for small businesses and economic transformation to confirm what assessment has been made of the impact of the closures, as well as asking him to outline what discussions his Department has had with the Post Office regarding maintaining provision in Aylesbury.
In the Aylesbury MP's post to Facebook, where she shared her letter, she also said that she has written to the Post Office, who said they are looking at alternative options.
She added that she will keep in touch with updates.
Her letter and Facebook post can be seen in full below.
